It's funny how a little sunshine can completely change your mood. Being from southern California, I never understood the vitamin D deficit of winter. It was when my sister first went to college in Oregon that I understood what a lack of sunshine could do to a person. Desperately sunning herself under her vitamin D lamp and sizzling like a raw slice of bacon when a ray of sunlight shone down from the sky, she paled in comparison to her summer self in only a matter of months. Shriveled and ghostly, she seemed like a husk of a person, until of course, that fateful spring sunshine fell upon her, and she was wholly renewed.
Perhaps human beings are just simple creatures after all. Like a plant, we just need a little water and sunshine to thrive, and luckily, we're entering an era of plenty.
